Cumberland men’s and women’s tennis Coach Dell Pride has resigned from his position after one season leading the Phoenix programs to accept an NCAA Division I coaching opportunity at Nicholls State in Louisiana.

In his lone season at Cumberland, Pride guided both programs to national recognition and postseason success. The women’s team finished 11-10 overall and earned an at-large berth to the NAIA National Championships, where the Phoenix secured their first national tournament victory since 2008 with a 4-3 upset of No. 15-seeded Morningside. Cumberland advanced to the second round of the national tournament and climbed as high as No. 18 in the national rankings during the season.
