Mr. Garry William Owens, 92, of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, Tennessee, passed away June 19, 2026, at West Meade Place in Nashville.
Born in Brownsville, Texas, July 12, 1933, he was the son of the late Ivan E. Owens and Beatrice Frances Bandy Owens. He was a graduate of Brownwood High School and received extensive training in electronics while serving in the United States Navy. He retired from the Navy as Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service.
In 2018, at the age of 85, he received his degree from Colorado Technical University. Mr. Owens and his late wife attended Immanuel Baptist Church for a number of years and then became members of Hope Baptist Church in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ. A member of the masonic lodge for over 50 years, he was a member of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Masonic Lodge #98 F and AM, the Tall Cedars of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, York Rite Mason, 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, National Sojourners, Order of the Amaranth, Order of the Eastern Star, Shrine of Jerusalem, Knight Masons of Columbia and Al Menah Shrine Temple.
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary New Owens in 2019; daughter, Mary Katherine Dunn.
Survivors include his son, Garry Lynn Owens; five grandchildren, Garry Owens, Holly Lynn Owens, Michael Owens, Stephanie Dejulio; great-grandchildren, Gracie Lynn Owens, Jada Lynn Owens, Garry Owens III, Ryker Owens, Vivian and Vincent Monsivaiz; sister, Bessie Strygos; special friend and neighbor, Jerry Owens.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Cedar Grove Cemetery with Bro. Will McReynolds and Bro. Jonas Taylor officiating. Interment will be with military honors and masonic rites. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Ligon and Bobo Funeral Home.
